Chengyao Shen, a seasoned AI researcher and specialist, will be joining our AI for Good committee to help advance various impactful projects. With over 10 years of expertise in deep learning and a strong foundation in both academia and industry, Chengyao brings invaluable knowledge and experience to our initiatives.

Chengyao holds a Ph.D. from the National University of Singapore, where his research focused on visual attention using deep neural networks, and a B.Eng. from Shanghai Jiao Tong University. His academic background provides a robust platform for the cutting-edge work he’s done throughout his career.

From 2018 to 2024, Chengyao made significant contributions as a Deep Learning Research Scientist and Staff Perception Engineer at Samsung. He worked on model compression, vision transformers, and large language model research, while also developing tools for AI and HPC workload profiling. Additionally, he was instrumental in hardware simulations for next-generation neural processors and played a crucial role in developing self-driving platform modules. His hands-on experience in these areas will greatly benefit the AI for Good committee as we explore real-world applications of AI.

Before joining Samsung, Chengyao was the Founding Research Engineer at AutoX, where he led deep learning architecture designs for vision and perception problems in autonomous driving. His work tackled challenges in road, light, and weather conditions, proving his capability to implement practical AI solutions in complex environments.

Chengyao's expertise, combined with his passion for driving advancements in AI, will be an incredible asset as he collaborates with us on a variety of projects aimed at using AI for the greater good. We are confident that his knowledge will push the boundaries of what’s possible and help us achieve meaningful outcomes in the community.
