Golf Hangout

On January 20, 2025, participants gathered at Mariners Point Golf Course for CPMentorship’s Swing for a Cause: Golf Hangout 2025 event, an exciting morning of fun and learning with a meaningful purpose: raising funds for the upcoming CPMentorship Hackathon. Thanks to the generosity of participating kids, parents, and donors, we successfully raised $2,775 to support young innovators next month.

A huge shout-out to Eric and little Catherine from the AI for Good Committee, who organized this incredible event. Eric not only brought the golf clubs, but also patiently taught us the fundamentals of the game.

Eric teaching us how to hold the club

For many of us, golf was a brand-new experience. At the beginning, our swings were quite bad - many were too low, causing the club to hit the ground and lose all momentum before touching the ball. Sometimes, the swing didn’t even register on the computer screen, as the ball flew too low. Eric guided us through the basics, from gripping the club to swing techniques. After practicing for a few hours and engaging in fun games like Angry Birds and a swing distance competition, we began to improve.

Beyond swings, the event was a fantastic opportunity to socialize. After practicing on the course, we moved to the putting area, competing to sink the ball in as few strokes as possible. Between rounds, we laughed, learned, and bonded, turning this event into not just a fundraiser, but a gathering of peers and CPMentorship supporters.

Practicing Putting

To wrap up the day, we enjoyed a wonderful lunch featuring cheese, pepperoni, and vegetarian pizza, along with corn chips and dips. We also shared a delicious chocolate cake, celebrating both the event’s success and the incredible generosity of our community.

None of this would have been possible without Eric’s guidance, full support of his family, little Catherine’s leadership, and the enthusiastic support of every participant. A huge thank you to all kids, parents and donors. We deeply appreciate your generosity in making this event a success.

We look forward to seeing everyone at the CPMentorship Hackathon next month!
