🌿 Alviso County Park Clean-Up Launches New Quarterly Initiative
On April 13, the CP Mentorship Water Conservation Committee successfully kicked off its first quarterly clean-up event at Alviso County Park. The initiative was made possible after Aiden Zhang, co-chair of the committee, adopted the park through the Santa Clara County volunteer program.
The project brought together a team of dedicated CP Mentorship high school volunteers who worked tirelessly to remove debris, clear pathways, and restore the park’s natural beauty. Their efforts not only improved the appearance of the park but also played a crucial role in supporting local water conservation efforts.
CP Mentorship Volunteers Kick Off 1st Quarterly Alviso Park Clean-Up
By clearing litter and maintaining healthy trails and vegetation, volunteers helped reduce the amount of pollutants entering local waterways. Trash and runoff from neglected park areas can carry harmful materials into storm drains, which ultimately flow into rivers, wetlands, and the San Francisco Bay. This clean-up helped prevent such contamination, contributing to a healthier watershed and aquatic ecosystem.
In preparation for the event, Santa Clara County park rangers collaborated with Water Conservation Committee, Aiden Zhang (Basis Independent Silicon Valley) and Claire Rao (Jane L. Stanford Middle School) to ensure a safe, informative, and impactful event. Rangers provided guidance on best practices for conservation and shared valuable insights into the park’s native habitats and water systems.
Thanks to the teamwork between volunteers, and Santa Clara County Park Rangers, the clean-up was a well-organized and meaningful success—setting the tone for future events that will continue to protect both our parks and our water resources.
